The meeting will begin promptly at 8 am with BREAKFAST and the opportunity to visit with fellow SEPC members at 7:30 a.m.\n \nAdvance reservations are required.\n \nStreet Parking is Available\n \nor\n \nSelf Pay SPYC Garage ~ $7.00\n ------\n\n \n \nChapter 2019-71, Laws of Florida, was adopted this past legislative session.  This legislation provides that most electronic documents can be remotely notarized and/or witnessed when the notary, witnesses, and the signer (or “principal”) are in different physical locations and are connected via audio-video communication technology.  Of particular interest to estate and trust practitioners, the legislation includes provisions and rules allowing for wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents to be witnessed and/or notarized electronically, including when the witnesses and notary are not physically present with the testator/settlor/principal, but rather, are "present" via audio-video communication technology.  While the legislation includes a number of new provisions relating to notaries, this presentation will focus on the aspects of the new laws relating to electronic estate planning documents.\n \n \n \nMeeting Location:\n \nSt. Petersburg Yacht Club -  11 Central Ave, St. Petersburg, FL 33701\n \n \n \nSponsored By:\n \n \n \n\n ------\n\nANGELA M. ADAMS practices estate and trust litigation with the Law Office of Wm. Fletcher Belcher in St. Petersburg.  She graduated from Vanderbilt University and received her law degree from Stetson University College of Law.  She is a Fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and a member of the Executive Council of the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law (RPPTL) Section of The Florida Bar.  Angela currently chairs the RPPTL Section’s Ad Hoc Study Committee on Professional Fiduciary Licensing, is the immediate past chair of the Section’s Trust Law Committee (2014-2019), and is a member of several other Section committees.  She previously served on the Power of Attorney Committee that authored the 2011 Florida Power of Attorney Act.  Angela is listed as an AV Preeminent Rated Lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell and is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America and Florida Trend’s Florida Legal Elite.  She is a frequent lecturer and writer on estate and trust topics.\n \n \n
